Moving from CellarTracker to Cellar Book

Your CellarTracker list comes across in one import, read on your phone, with a preview before anything is saved.

How to import a CellarTracker export

  1. Export from CellarTracker. Open My Cellar and export the list. The Export button gives a comma-separated file (CSV); the xlquery export is tab-separated. Either works.
  2. Get the file onto your phone. Save it to Files or Google Drive, or email it to yourself.
  3. Import it in Cellar Book. Go to Settings → Spreadsheets → Import from CSV or CellarTracker, and choose the file.
  4. Check the preview, then tap Import. Cellar Book recognises a CellarTracker export by its columns and shows what it will do before writing anything: how many wines and lots it will add, and the rows that come in with a gap or are skipped. Nothing is written until you tap Import.

What comes across

What stays behind

Notes and community scores are not in CellarTracker’s list export, so there is nothing to read. Photos are not in a spreadsheet either. Spirits, beer, sake, cider and other rows that are not wine are skipped, and the preview lists them.

An import only adds

A wine already in your cellar gains a new lot and is never rewritten, and nothing is deleted. It also means importing the same file twice adds its bottles twice, so import each file once.

Read on your phone

The file is read on your phone. Nothing is uploaded, and there is no account to make.

Taking it back out

Cellar Book exports your cellar as a spreadsheet too: cellar.csv and tastings.csv in a zip, ready to open in Numbers, Excel or Google Sheets.
